Tegan Kierznowski

Software developer, future quant.

I've been shipping code since I was 12, starting with a Discord bot because Fortnite got boring. Now I build VPN infrastructure, trading backtests and the occasional banana-based unit converter. I'm a 17-year-old senior at TASIS England, looking for a quant or software engineering internship.

Things I've built

Some have users, some were built to learn. Public ones link to the code, and I'm happy to walk through the private ones.

A VPN that works on networks that block VPNs

A desktop client for Windows, macOS and Linux that tunnels WireGuard through censorship-resistant transports, so to a firewall the connection looks like ordinary HTTPS. I built the app, the servers it connects to, and the website, accounts and payments around it.

  • Electron app with a Go networking core
  • Dockerized server fleet running WireGuard and obfuscated proxies
  • React and Express site with PostgreSQL accounts and payments
  • Release builds for three operating systems, in eight languages
  • 1,200+ commits across the client, servers and site

My biggest project by a long way. Ask me about the architecture.

How I got here

The chart at the top of the page, in words. Every candle is one of these.

  1. 2020

    Built a Discord bot

Guildster started with YouTube tutorials and the discord.js guide. I learned JavaScript because I needed it.

  2. 2021

    Grew it to 50+ commands

Added MongoDB, music, moderation, giveaways and a website. Version 5.2 by the end of the year.

  3. 2021

Started a website I never finished

The repo description reads "terrible code for a website I'm working on that I'll probably never finish." It was accurate.

  4. 2023

Made a chat app for planes

LocalChat let my friends and me message each other mid-flight with no internet at all.

  5. 2024

    Finished a website, finally

Built the site for the Minecraft server I host. Small, and actually done.

  6. 2025

    Got serious about quant

Started backtesting strategies in Python, built a stock lookup API, and picked up R for data analysis.

  7. 2026

    Shipped a censorship-resistant VPN

Desktop app, servers, website and payments, all mine. The biggest jump on the chart.
